These last few weeks haven’t been easy as we have lost a dear friend and colleague Luke Spangenburg.

We started as a bunch of renegades at Santa Fe Community College back in 2009 in the newly created algae/biofuels program. Since that time the Biofuels Center of Excellence has become recognized around the world and led by Luke. Successful businesses have been started by former students that came out of the program. Graduates have also started jobs at Lawrence Livermore Labs and NTXBio just to name a couple.

My friend is dearly missed, his legacy will last for many years to come.
