Spirulina Power Shot

Mar 27, 2020

This is a simple recipe with few ingredients that we already have at home in the kitchen. And it can be made using a blender, no juicer necessary.

This shot is full of immune-boosting benefits with amazing side effects!

Turmeric is a fantastic ingredient, a natural source of anti-inflammatory properties. It protects your body from free radicals and possibly slows the ageing process. Curcumin is also known to help reverse heart disease process. This is because it helps regulate blood pressure and clotting. It also could help prevent the growth of cancerous cells.

Similarly to Turmeric, Ginger is known to have anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties. It is also known to improve brain function, heart health and lower blood sugar. It also has been known to work well to reduce nausea, reduce LDL cholesterol levels and help fight Colds/the Flu. The Gingerol within Ginger works hard to fight infections.

Oh, and if you’re wondering why the black pepper and turmeric? This ingredient is needed to help absorb the curcumin within the turmeric as well as helps digestion and fights free radicals.

INGREDIENTS:

1/4 cup fresh raw ginger knobs (peeled, chopped)
1/4 cup fresh raw turmeric knobs (peeled, chopped)
1/2 cup lemon juice (squeezing 3-4 lemons should produce about 1/2 cup juice)
Juice from 1 orange (also add a lime if you have it handy)
1 teaspoon Spirulina
1/4 teaspoon black pepper powder
Optional Power UP
1 pinch of ground cayenne pepper

INSTRUCTIONS:
Wash the turmeric and ginger well (I use organic ginger and turmeric). Using the edge of a spoon, you can scrap away the skin from the chunks of ginger and turmeric (doesn’t have to be perfectly clear of skin), chop the ginger and turmeric into rough chunks, and then press each chunk through a garlic press. Or alternative, shred it finely with a cheese grater.

First WARM the lemons to get the most juice out of them. Either microwave for 10 seconds, or let the lemons sit in a bowl of hot water. Use a hand or bowl juicer, do the same with the orange.

Mix everything in a blender and sprinkle the black pepper on top. Enjoy it right away!

Tips: Put the spirulina sprinkles in a tiny bit of water to loosen them up for a while, before hand.
